Asa Local Government Area, one of the oldest in theState, was created in 1976 with Headquarters in Afon. The LocalGovernment Area has 12 wards and shares boundary with Osun State inseveral locations.

Road Distance: From Ilorin to Afon (LGA headquarters) 27 kilometers

Population: 78, 722 – (38, 788 males, 39, 934 females) 1991 Census.

Major Towns: Afon, Aboto-Oja, Ballah, Alapa, Otte, Okeso, Laduba, Ogbondoroko, Olowu Oko, Lasoju, Igbo Aran, Elebute.

Important Markets: Alapa, Afon, Aboto-Oja, Ballah and Otte.

Major Languages: Yoruba and Fulani.

Natural Resources : Maize, Corn, Yam, Fish and Cassava.

Mineral Resources: Granite, Ceramic, Clay and Kaolin.

Major Festivals: Egunugun Festival in Laduba, and Alagbe Arobat at Alapa.

Tourist Attraction: Shehu Alimi's Mosque, well at Kuo Alapa district, cattle dam and grazing reserve at Illa-Oja.
