Construction works across the State has provided casual employments to thousands of youths and women since 2003. The construction of ‘Mandate’ Housing Estates especially has served as a major source of employment. About 5000 people are estimated to have worked at the construction sites at various points.

Establishment of the Kwara Road Maintenance Agency (KWARMA) to maintain and carry out repairs on existing roads has created further opportunities for employment through construction. The Agency currently employs about 50 engineers and artisans, with recurrent indirect and casual job opportunities at construction sites.
