   Responsibilities

• Ministry of Finance is one of the principal departments of government in Kwara State of Nigeria. The Ministry has the cabinet responsibilities for the mobilization, custody, disbursement and management of the State finances. The ministry is divided into four broad departments namely: Finance, Treasury, Revenue and Budget.
  
• The Honourable Commissioner for Finance heads the Ministry and he is supported by Permanent Secretary, an Accountant – General for the Treasury, Chairman for Revenue Services and Director of Budget.

   Achievements

• A lot of successes have been recorded through the ministry under the Bukola Saraki led administration which inherited a very lean purse at its inception. Yet the economy of the State has improved tremendously through prudence aggressive revenue drive, streamlining Government account and giving Civil Servants and Pensioners a deserved sense of belonging through prompt payment salary and pension, restoration of cut down Salary Steps, promotion and payment of pension arrears.
• Noticeable impact also recorded through the ministry is  in the area of  investment turn over in Stocks and Capital Market transactions for both Public and Private investors proceeds of which are being channeled into financing developmental programmes which have positively impacted on the socio- economic life of the citizenry.
• Deserving of mention also is the recent credit rating of the state government by the foremost international rating agency (“Fitch”). The state has emerged as a pioneer state through out the 36 states of the federation with a foreign and local currency rating of B+ and national Long- Term Rating of AA- (minus). With this, the State is not only being recognized globally as one of the States in the country capable of handling her economic problem but that has been put on the world Map as State with its potentials as a haven for agro based economy.
