Statutory Responsibilities 

The Ministry is responsible for formulating and implementing government policy in the provision of Housing for all, formulating physical planning policies and preparation of Master Plans for the development of settlement in the state. In these regard the Ministry performs the following major functions:

  • Preparation of physical development plans such as Master Plans and Layout plans.
  • Control of physical development to ensure orderly and liveable environment.
  • Formulation of policies on housing and its provision.
  • Design and supervision of building project throughout the state.
  • Preparation of building designs and Bill of Quantity.  

Since the inception of the administration of Dr. Bukola Saraki, a lot of achievements have been recorded by the Ministry, some of these achievements include:-

  • Mass Housing
  • Decongestion of Oja-Oba Market
  • Kulende Market
  • Design and Building Plans
  • Preparation of Master Plan for the new GRA at Budo-Osho
  • Development control in the State

Achievements 

In the year 2004, the administration of Dr. Bukola Saraki embarked on the construction of 400 Housing Units (Mandate I-II) comprising of Mandate I 150 Units and Mandate II 250 Units which consist of 100 2 Bedrooms and 150 3 Bedrooms,  it has been completed with all infrastructural facilities and sold to the public.

In 2007 – 2009, the State Government also completed the construction of 250 Mandate III housing which are made up of 100-2 bedrooms and 150 – 3 bedroom bungalows, completed and sold to the public.

In order to ensure and facilitate more development in all the Senatorial Districts of the State, the administration of Dr. Bukola Saraki also constructed 35 Units of 2 bedrooms in 4 Local Government Areas which are located at Omu-Aran, Offa, Kaiama and Shonga, which were also provided with adequate infrastructural facilities and fencing completed and sold to the public.

In 2004, this administration also decongested Oja-Oba Market by constructing demarcating walls, and also re-constructing the road medians to prevent their occupation by traders and destitute to provide parking lots and to create pedestrian work way. The project has really created orderliness and has made Oja-Oba environment aesthetically pleasing and beautiful.

The Kulende Market Project consisting of 133 shops, (150 locked off stalls and 28 open stalls) have been completed by this administration, while the existing structures were also renovated and the whole premises fenced.

Establishment of an equipped Geographical Information System Centre (KWAGIS) was commissioned by this administration in 2009, which also include provision of modern survey equipments.

In 2009, the administration has embarked on the construction of a new Judge’s Quarters in Ilorin, work has since commenced at the site of the construction.
