Ilorin East Local Government Area was created in 1991 from Ilorin Local Government with the headquarters at Oke-Oyi. The Local Government has 11 wards.

Districts: Mangaji-Are, Balogun Gambari/Ibagun and Sango.

Road Distance: From Ilorin the state capital to Oke-Oyi LGA Headquarters is 16km.

Population: 237,298 - (118,815 males, 118,483 females) 1991 census.

Major Towns: Iponrin, Apado, Oke-Oyi, Panada-Agbeyangi, Ile-Apa, Lajiki, Elesin-Meta, Budo Are.
