Responsibilities

The ministry is responsible for the provision of health service and the management of health institution (i.e. school of Nursing, School of Midwifery,the school of Health Technology) in the State. Specific functions of the ministry are:-

• Chemical and Analytical Service
• Public Health Service 
• Narcotics and Drugs Abuse Control
• Pharmacy Service
• Health and Medical Training
• General Co-ordination of Health Service in the State
• Medical, Health and Pharmaceutical Research and Statistics
• Relates with the following bodies:
  •  Nursing and Midwifery Council
  • Nigerian Medical Council and Nigerian Medical Association
  • Nigerian Dental Council
  • Nigerian Institute of Laboratory Technologists
  • Pharmacy Board of Nigeria. 

Achievements

Health Service Rendered

Patigi General Hospital 

• 5500 patients were in the hospital
• 84 surgeries were successfully done
• 600 pairs of glasses were given to patients
• Others were given medical treatment successfully
• No casualty was recorded and nobody was rushed out for intensive care.

Sobi Specialist Hospital

Eye care

• 782 patients were given glasses
• 150 patients were operated upon.
• 2,825 patients were treated for various eye problems.
• 88 were referred for further investigations.
• No casualty was recorded.
