Responsibilities  

The ministry of rural development is responsible for formulation, coordination and evaluation of general policies on rural development in the specific areas of Rural Water Scheme, Rural Electrification Supply and Rural Feeder Roads across the State. These basic rural infrastructures provided by the Ministry are essential for small and medium entrepreneurship and Agro Industrial Development.

In carrying out her functions, the Ministry supervises the activities of Rural Electrification Board (REB) and Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA) which are parastatals under it. The ministry of rural development is responsible for formulation, coordination and evaluation of general policies on rural development in the specific areas of Rural Water Scheme, Rural Electrification Supply and Rural Feeder Roads across the State.

These basic rural infrastructures provided by the Ministry are essential for small and medium entrepreneurship and Agro Industrial Development. In carrying out her functions, the Ministry supervises the activities of Rural Electrification Board (REB) and Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA) which are parastatals under it. 

Achievements 

  • Completion of 19 abandoned rural electrification.
  • Establishment of sub-stations to boost electricity.
  • Procurement of 150 Nos of transformer for massive electrification projects in the State.
  • Installation of 15MVA transformer in Shonga to serve the new Nigeria Farmers and about 27 other villages in Edu LGA.
  • Drilling of over 1,000 boreholes across the State.
  • Drilling of over 60 motorized boreholes across the State.
  • Rehabilitation of 96 kilometer road across the State.
