Responsibilities

• The Ministry of Works and Transports is responsible for design, constructions, rehabilitation, maintenance and supervision of government roads, maintenance of government vehicles, inspection of all categories of vehicles with a view to ensuring their road worthiness.
• The Ministry equally installs and maintain streetlights for the state roads. It is also the responsibility of the ministry to operate 24 hours fire fighting and prevention services.
• The Ministry is also responsible for the supervision of the activities of the underlisted parastatals:
  • Kwara State Roads Maintenance Agency (KWARMA)
  • Kwara State Transport Corporation (KWARA EXPRESS)
    

Achievements

It is a statement of fact that development of social infrastructures especially construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of roads in Kwara State isreceiving special attention from the Administration of Governor Abubakar Bukola Saraki. In the last twelve months, well over twenty road projectshaving passed through due process were awarded and flagged off across the State. The road projects include: 

• The 43-5 kilometers Patigi-Rogun-Kpada.
• Rehabilitation of Moshe Bridge along Kaiama road in Kwara North.
• The 10 kilometers Offa-Erinle Kwara Unity Road.
• The 7.5 kilometers Erinle-Ilemonain Kwara South.
• The 6.5 kilometers Adangba-Abayawo Express road
• The Dualisation of Ola-OLu Offa Garage road (2.5km) and Ilorin Post Office fly-over in Kwara Central.
• Others are River Basin-Sango road (1.4km) coca cola road (3.5km) Oloje Housing Estate road network (3.5km) Extension of Taoheed Secondary School road (3.5km), Ojagboro-Asa Iya Dundu-Sango road (3.72km), Ero-Omo Kilanko road (1.6km), Itaamo-Modi Eyenkorin Express road(5.3km), Iwo-Owa Onire Owu falls road (14.5km), Stadium underpass 2nd Phase, Offa Township road (3.55km), Ipata Market road (400m), Idofian-Fufu-Lajiki (14.8km), Secretariat TSC/MOE road (214m), Akerebiata-Sobi Specialist Hospital road (1.5km) and Unilorin MBA road (270m).
