CIVIL SERVICE REFORM IS A MUST PDF Print E-mail

Kwara State governor, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has said the proposed civil service reform in the state is a must in order to reposition as well as give standard to the system.

The governor who stated this while speaking with journalists in Ilorin during an interactive session to mark the end of his 45th years birthday anniversary also noted that the civil service has a standard which should be maintained at all times to be able to serve the people well.

According to him, many people today prefer to go for the civil service based on its nature and decay.

“Whenever people come to ask  for job they will always prefer the civil service because that is the only place they can be able to do what they like. They come to work at their own volution and after some minutes they will abscond to go for their private activities,” he said.

He said most of them don’t like the private job because it is too demanding and there will be no time for them to do what they like or abscond, adding that when you asked them to get themselves gainfully self employed they will always reject it ass they know if they did not work they will not be able to eat.

According to him, the state government has started the repositioning of the civil service by ensuring that promotion is based on merit, while all civil servants in the state will be subjected to test and examination which will serve as a yard stick for the promotion of the workers.

He said the state government is trying its best to ensure that things are put in a proper shape so that the people of the stat will benefit from them.

He assured the people of the state of the commitment of his administration to ensure that their standard of living is improved more than its used to be
