The Nigeria Football Association (NFA) has been called upon to adhere strictly to the global norms of transparent administration for the good of the game, as Governor Bukola Saraki of Kara State has pledged the support of the Governors’ Forum, financially, in off-setting the Super Eagles bills at Ghana 2008Nations Cup.

The Kwara State Governor and chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki stated this while receiving members of the NFA-led by its chairman, Alhaji Sanin Abdullahi Lulu.

Governor Saraki, who commended the NFA for the successes recorded by Nigeria becoming the kind of football in Africa and the 20th in the world, reminded the FA that the entire citizenry of this country are awaiting to wine and dine with the Nations Cup trophy in February 10 when the final will be played in Accra.

He decried the crisis that engulfed the league before its commencement this season, and commended the leadership of the NFA for the maturity in handling the crisi, which saw a hitch-free league.

Governor Saraki used the opportunity to appeal to the private sector to invest in the multi-million naira ultra modern Kwara Football Academy (KFA) which, he said, holds the future of the Nigerian football. He pointed out that the boost football has given to Nigeria has a lingering positive effect on other sectors of the nation’s life.

Speaking earlier, Alhaji Lulu commended Governor Saraki for his sold support and visionary policy through the establishment of the Kwara Football Academy, which he regarded as one of the best in the continent.

The NFA chairman described the governor as the vanguard and pillar for the policies and programmes of football development in Nigeria.

Alhaji Lulu called for the support of the state Governors in funding the activities of the NFa in 2008, prime among which is the Ghana 2008 Nations Cup coming up in January, promising that the trophy would be brought to Nigeria as compensation to Nigerians.

The ceremony was attended by the Chief of Staff, government House, Alhaji Ladi Hassan, Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Alhaji Zakari Mohammed and the Secretary General of NFA, Chief Bolaji Oja Oba.
