KWARA CBN DONATES ITEMS TO INMATES, OTHERS PDF Print E-mail
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Kwara State branch has donated items worth hundreds of thousands of Naira to prison inmates and motherless Babies home in the state.  

Speaking shortly after handing over the items to the beneficiaries, the Branch Controller of CBN in Ilorin, Mr Onoriode Olotewo applealed to wealthy Nigerians and organizations in the country to extend their hands of fellowship to the less privileged in the society.  

Olotewo said the gesture was in accordance with their tenets of catering for the less privileged in the society.  

“The importance of this occasion cannot be over-emphasized, as we are aware of the plight of the under-privileged in our society. It is against this backdrop that the Central Bank of Nigeria encourages its staff to contribute to the welfare of this group through the collections of alms”, he said.  

He also, appealed to other well meaning individuals and organizations in Kwara State “to extend their hands of fellowship to the less privileged to help them feel among in a country that belongs to all of us”, he added.  

Responding to their gesture, the head of Children Reception Centre, Mrs Margaret Iyabo Aduke and Mr Alade Oyeniran who represented the DCP in charge of prison commended the bank’s initiative and assured that the items would be judiciously used.  

Items donated by the CBN Ilorin branch included a giant A6.5va generating set with 50 litres keg of petrol to the motherless baby home and various drugs and five knitting machines and two sewing machines to the inmates of the Federal Prison Services in Ilorin.  

The gesture came from the staff of the Ilorin office of the bank.
