Governor Bukola Saraki charges Nigerians to be more patriotic PDF Print E-mail
Nigerians have been charged to be more patriotic and feel good about their country so that the Nation’s nascent democracy could be nurtured to maturity.

Kwara State Governor, Dr Bukola Saraki gave the charge in Ilorin on Wednesday while speaking with newsmen on the occasion of Nigeria’s 48th Independence Anniversary Celebration.

Governor Saraki, who also advised followers to obey and respect their leaders said we all have to exhibit some sense of belonging and talk more of positive things about our country.

His words: “I believe today that awareness is now higher among the followers. The level of participation by followers is higher and once that is higher, leaders definitely would have no option than to deliver”.

He encouraged Nigerians to always come together and speak with one voice when it comes to national issues, pointing out that it was high time we stopped politicising all issues so that the country can move forward.

Speaking on the future of the country, Dr Saraki explained that we have a lot of potentials and strong economy base, stressing that the problem has always been under-utilization of such potentials to our disadvantage.

“We have the potentials in the area of agriculture and agric-produce, we have the ability to become a food security Nation, provide employment for our people and I believe that we are just about getting to the point where we are going to see those benefits”, the governor disclosed.

Saraki expressed optimism that with the foundation already laid and the processes involved both at the federal and state levels coupled with the provision of infrastructure and support in the area of agriculture, Nigeria would be a great nation.
