Governor Bukola Saraki's Ramadan Message to Muslim faithfuls PDF Print E-mail

As Ramadan fast begins nationwide today (Wednesday), the Kwara State Governor, Dr Bukola Saraki has charged Muslim faithful to engage the period of the holy month to pray for the sustenance of democracy, peace and unity of the country.

In a special message to Muslims in the State to mark the commencement of this year’s Ramadan fast, Dr Saraki urged them to intensify their prayers for the continued peace and unity of the country.

He enjoined citizens of the country both Muslims and Christians to pray vehemently for a successful conduct of the 2011 general elections to further prove to the entire world that democracy has finally come to stay in Nigeria.

Fasting, he said, which Almighty Allah has made compulsory for all able Muslims, should not be regarded in any way as a punishment but a golden opportunity to move closer to God and desist from all forms of evil doing.

The Governor enjoined family heads to provide adequately for their households during the fasting period, pointing out that bountiful blessings from Allah awaits such family heads for doing so in the holy month.

Dr Saraki also advised wealthy Muslims, who have the means to feed other people to appreciate the pains of hunger by donating generously to the less privileged in this holy month of Ramadan, noting that the reward for doing so is enormous from Almighty Allah.

While congratulating the entire Muslim Community in the State for being alive to witness the commencement of the Ramadan fast, he reminded them that whatever good deeds they do in the holy month would be rewarded accordingly only by God our creator.
