Achievements

Construction of unadoptable children hostel and matron’s quarters in the children’s reception centre Gaa-Akanbi, Ilorin 
Since the establishment of the children reception centre in 1992, the only available building was the one that house the less privileged children. The present administration has now constructed a hostel for unadoptable children and matron quarters.

Renovation of the area social welfare office
The Area Social Welfare Office, Ilorin now wears a new look. The office has been renovated by the present administration. a fence has been erected for security. The staffs are now motivated to work in a befitting environment devoid of the old colonial building that was erected by former administration.

Construction of an Ultra Modern Hall for Registry Marriages.
The most spectacular contribution of the present administration in the ministry of social development and culture was the construction of an ultra modern hall with all facilities for registry marriages. This is an achievement that will remain indelible in the area of social welfare as registry marriage as part of the functions of the ministry that happily seal healthy relationship of male and female into acceptable family life.

Rehabilitation Activities
The present administration has recorded an unparallel success in solving or reducing the newly various problems of humanity especially as it affects the vulnerable groups in our midst.

Distribution of Mobility Aids
The present administration of Kwara State has so far spent the sum of N50 Million for the provision of mobility aids alone for P.W.D’s in kwara state.
The breakdown of the mobility is as follows: 

• 100 Artificial limbs
• 150 Wheel Chairs
• 100 Tricycles
• 120 Earring aids
• 100 grid canes
• 100 grid canes

Employment/resettlement
Since the inception of the present administration in kwara state all training PWD’s in various locations are being gainfully employed by the state and local governments as craft teachers/instructors in primary and tertiary institutions.
Presently the ministry has four P.W.D pupils at kwara state school for the handicapped who are directly under the total sponsorship of the state government. Two of them are abandoned P.W.D. pupils.   

Olokun Trade Psychiatric Centre
In line with the present government effort to keep ilorin township clean, the ministry in partnership with olokun trade psychiatric home in Alagbado, Ilorin has been picking and treating many lunatics, some of whom, having been certified cured are discharged, repatriated and reunited with their families while others are still receiving treatment at the centre. The state government has been providing a monthly subvention of N20, 000 to the home. The present administration Dr. Bukola Saraki has been very responsive to the yearning, hopes and aspiration of P.W.D.’s and the general public.
